Katie
Ledecky, the three-time All-Met Swimmer of the Year and ruling world record
holder in the 400-meter, 800 and 1,500 free-form occasions, made the eagerly
awaited choice to concede enlistment at Stanford University for the 2015-16
school year Friday, deciding to stay at home to prepare in the most critical
year yet of her young vocation.
After watchful thought and joint talk with both my present club mentor, Bruce Gemmell
of Nation's Capital Swim Club, and Stanford Coach Greg Meehan, I have chosen to
concede my enlistment at Stanford for one year so that I may proceed with my
preparation in my home surroundings in Maryland paving the way to the 2016 U.S.
Summer Olympic Trials. Ledecky said in an announcement issued by Stone Ridge
School, where she is a senior.
choice appears to be auspicious, four years and a day after the 18-year-old
world record holder came to her first Summer Olympic Trials cut at age 14.
After thirteen months, Ledecky's swimming vocation took off when she set first
at trials, procuring a spot on the U.S. Olympic group in London, where she
would win gold in the 800 free-form. She has following softened seven world
record up the mid-separation and separation free-form occasions, and has kept
on amplifying her range in free-form and individual medely as July's big championships
approach.
